Dr. Abhijit Budhkar

MBBS, General Surgery, MNAMS, FMAS, FIAGES, FCRS (MUHS)

Dr. Abhijit Budhkar earned his MBBS degree from the prestigious T.N. Medical College & B.Y.L. Nair Hospital, Mumbai, in 2006. Following graduation, he worked at Breach Candy Hospital Trust under the guidance of Dr. Farokh Udwadia (pioneer of Indian Critical Care Medicine) in 2008. Driven by his passion for surgery, he pursued General Surgery from Medical Trust Hospital, Ernakulam, Kochi (NABH-accredited), an 800-bedded multispeciality center. During his three years of residency, he worked in the departments of cardiac surgery, thoracic and trauma surgery, and surgical gastroenterology, conducted research on multiple projects, and presented papers.

Since 2014, he has continued to work in the field of General Surgery, serving the poor at Rajawadi Hospital, Mumbai. He also joined the Surgical Oncology Department at Kohinoor Hospital (Vidyavihar) for one year in 2015 and worked at BARC Hospital in 2017, gaining experience in basic laparoscopy, upper and lower GI endoscopies, and basic urology. In 2018, he joined Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai, to specialize in laser and robotic surgery. Continuing his ambition for higher learning, he completed a Fellowship in Colon and Rectal Diseases under the mentorship of Dr. Roy Patankar in 2021 at ZEN Hospital. Post-fellowship, he worked at the prestigious Seth G.S. Medical College and KEM Hospital, Parel, Mumbai, until 2022.

Presently, he serves as a lecturer in the Department of General Surgery at Padm Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical College, where he undertakes various academic activities for undergraduate and postgraduate surgery candidates, organizing workshops, CMEs, and masterclasses. He has also participated in and conducted tribal region camps in Palghar and Dahanu regions.

Apart from surgery, he is an ethical professional, an ardent reader, a lover of classical music, and has a keen interest in making plays, skits, and learning musical instruments.
