Normal Delivery / Caesarean Section

Normal delivery and Caesarean section (C-section) are two methods of childbirth. Gynaecologists assess the health of the mother and baby to determine the most suitable and safe delivery method based on medical conditions, pregnancy progress, and individual preferences.

Normal Delivery:

Normal delivery, or vaginal delivery, involves the natural process of childbirth through the birth canal.

Advantages of Normal Delivery:

  • Faster recovery and shorter hospital stay.
  • Lower risk of surgical complications.
  • Reduced breathing issues in the newborn.
  • Encourages early mother-baby bonding and breastfeeding.

When Normal Delivery is Preferred:

  • Healthy pregnancy without complications.
  • Proper positioning of the baby (head down).
Caesarean Section (C-Section):

A C-section is a surgical procedure where the baby is delivered through an incision made in the mother’s abdomen and uterus.

When a C-Section is Necessary:

  • Maternal Factors: Preeclampsia, obstructed labor, or maternal infections.
  • Fetal Factors: Abnormal positioning (e.g., breech), umbilical cord complications, or fetal distress.
  • Multiple Pregnancies: Twins or higher-order multiples.
  • Previous C-Sections: In some cases, depending on uterine conditions.

Advantages of C-Section:

  • Provides a safe option when vaginal delivery is risky.
  • Can be planned for convenience in certain medical situations.

Both normal delivery and C-section are safe options for childbirth when performed under the care of skilled gynaecologists, ensuring the best possible outcomes for mother and baby. Consult Dr. Trupti Budhkar for personalized care and treatment planning.
